Yesaya 29:23

29:23 For when they see their children,

whom I will produce among them, ¹ 

they will honor ²  my name.

They will honor the Holy One of Jacob; ³ 

they will respect ⁴  the God of Israel.

Yesaya 30:11-12

30:11 Turn aside from the way,

stray off the path. ⁵ 

Remove from our presence the Holy One of Israel.” ⁶ 

30:12 For this reason this is what the Holy One of Israel says:

“You have rejected this message; ⁷ 

you trust instead in your ability to oppress and trick, ⁸ 

and rely on that kind of behavior. ⁹ 

[29:23]  ¹ tn Heb “for when he sees his children, the work of my hands in his midst.”

[29:23]  ² tn Or “treat as holy” (also in the following line); NASB, NRSV “will sanctify.”

[29:23]  ³ sn Holy One of Jacob is similar to the phrase “Holy One of Israel” common throughout Isaiah; see the sn at Isa 1:4.

[29:23]  ⁴ tn Or “fear,” in the sense of “stand in awe of.”

[30:11]  ⁵ sn The imagery refers to the way or path of truth, as revealed by God to the prophet.

[30:12]  ⁷ tn The sentence actually begins with the word “because.” In the Hebrew text vv. 12-13 are one long sentence.
